Jeremy Segal

Jeremy Segal – Architectural Photographer Extraordinaire

Architecture and photography go hand in hand these days. The good eye of a talented photographer is definitely needed to capture and showcase the unique qualities, design, and attributes of a building or any urban environment. However, bear in mind that if you want to advertise or showcase your development, it isn’t enough that you enlist the services of just any photographer. It is very important that the person you choose has a deep understanding how to emphasise elements of good architecture and urban design.
Jeremy Segal is all that and more. He is a Canadian photographer currently living in Vancouver, one of the most cutting edge cities in North America when it comes to architecture and design. Growing up around painters and designers and being surrounded by the set squares and drafting tables, Jeremy has always been fascinated with buildings and architecture ever since he was a little boy. His father is an architect and an urban planner for Vancouver and the elder Segal’s love and appreciation of design has been obviously passed on to Jeremy.
Jeremy hasn’t always been a photographer. After studying Movie and Stage Craft-Grip at Capilano University, in Vancouver, he worked in film for a while. He also travelled and worked in Japan for five years before moving back to his home country, where he went on to pursue a career in architectural photography.1
His love of art, technology, and urban design are the things that give his brand of architectural photography a unique flair. Combining this with his skills in various disciplines, Jeremy is able to create for his clients stunning images of architecture that can stand on their own as individual works of art.
Jeremy firmly believes that a building’s design is an expression of the architect. Through his lens, he endeavour to showcase their efforts and capabilities. And through his services, he wants to help them gain a wider exposure, as well as bring an appreciation of building design as an art to the public. With Jeremy’s assistance, any architect, designer, real estate developer, or agent will be able to effectively market and showcase their best work.2
But regardless of whether you will enlist Jeremey’s services or not, he wants you to know something important when it comes to working with an architectural photographer. According to him, if you want the pictures to turn out right, you should make an effort to be present at the photo shoot. While he understands that it’s not always possible to be present at the location, your presence can certainly make a huge difference.
According to him, being at the photo shoot will enable you to offer valuable input and discuss the images as they are being made. This will give you the guarantee that your creative vision is being met by the photographer, which will result in stunning images that resemble works of art.3
