A different data set has been gathered regarding how we live for decades. This data is then useful information for other government and community sectors. Collecting data has proven to be essential to city expansion. However, big data can be utilized differently. With the right tools, big data can alter how we develop cities. Information, after all, is what drives the decision to develop cities.

It’s a good thing the PlaceILive app was developed. A startup application that makes city information such as safety, transportation, and demographics available to the general public, PlaceILive is a handy platform for approaching data.1 PlaceILive is now merged with Hyperb.io https://hyperb.io/case-studies/mindaugo-14/

Even in its Beta form, the PlaceILive app measures a city’s livability. This is perfect for starting families looking for a place to settle down. This app shows a browser substantial data regarding the city’s livability through ratings on different factors such as transportation, sports, leisure, daily life, entertainment, safety, and demographics (marital status, population, unemployment, etc.)2 in one website. It even allows community members to post their reviews on the city so that you will have data on people living there. If this app reaches more people, a forum could be created where community members give each other insights into their lifestyle in a particular place. The app uses statistics gathered from different channels into one easy-to-use interface. In one sweep, you can see all the statistics of a city delivered to you in a visually appealing way.

The local government, architects, engineers, and design executives can also use the pool of statistics in this application to make necessary decisions for the city’s betterment. For instance, it can determine a city’s problem that was overlooked. The government can find solutions if the city statistics have more unemployed members. The same can be done for public health, safety, and overall life quality problems. Whatever the information in a particular city is, it can be used to ensure the sustainability of that city.

In the age where information is readily accessible to almost everyone, it is an information wonderland we can use to our advantage. The application is still in its infancy, but it has great potential. In the future, this may be the answer to forecasting city living trends.
